Lateral storage systems, also know as "bi-files", "tri-files" and "side by sides", can offer a medium duty storage capacity that will use
less of a footprint from front to back. Lateral storage systems also use a carriage to move, however, unlike the high density systems that
move left to right or the linear storage that moves in and out, the lateral systems move side to side.

These units are great for smaller areas, alcoves or long and narrow hallways. This type of storage can help maximize the use of floor space
that might otherwise not be used with traditional methods of storage. The lateral systems have a built-in track and floor component that
allows the carriages to move left to right. The back row is stationary and the front row or front two rows will move, allowing you access to
the back row by moving the front rows to the left or right.

Just like in the high density and linear storage systems, the lateral system carriage will accept 4-post, case style, cantilever and certain
sizes of wide span shelving. The only mode of operation is manual, but there are several ways to dress up the units to make them aesthetically
pleasing.
